The Dublin group's acclaimed third album, The Livelong Day, was nominated alongside albums from Lisa O'Neill, Félix Lajkó & VOŁOSI, and Lau.
Lankum have been named among the winners of the Songlines Music Awards 2020 – picking up the prize for the Europe category with their acclaimed album, The Livelong Day.
The prestigious awards "recognise outstanding talent in world music". 2020 marks the 12th year of the awards, which were originally organised in response to BBC's decision to end the BBC Radio 3 Awards for World Music.
The Livelong Day had previously been named Hot Press 'Folk Album of the Year', and was crowned 'Album Of Year' at the Choice Music Prize.
In their category of the Songlines Music Awards, Lankum were nominated alongside Lisa O'Neill, Félix Lajkó & VOŁOSI, and Lau. The Dublin group had previously been nominated in the same category in 2018 for their second album, Between the Earth and the Sky, but ultimately lost to Eliza Carthy & The Wayward Band.
Other winners of the Songlines Music Awards 2020 include Leyla McCall (Capitalist Blues) for America, Blick Bassy (1958) for Africa, Jambinai (ONDA) for Asia, Kefaya + Elaha Soroo (Songs of Our Mothers) for Fusion, Cimarrón for Best Group, and Bassekou Kouyaté for Best Artist.
