Irish folk group Lankum's Sunday night gig in Leipzig was cancelled last minute due to the group's support for Palestine
Irish folk band Lankum have had their live show cancelled at the TransCentury Festival which took place last weekend for their pro-Palestinian stance, as reported by Nialler9
The Dublin group were due to play Sunday night November 19th along with Gloria De Oliveira, and that Sunday night gig was cancelled due to Lankum’s political stance.
Speaking on the festival Instagram page, the festival released a statement in both German and English with the English language version reading as:
"The Lankum & Gloria De Oliveira concerts tonight will not take place. Lankum represents a political stance that we as a venue and festival do not represent."
The statement concludes: "In consultation with the artists, we have agreed to cancel the concert".

A refund for the tickets was offered.
In Germany, anything viewed as "pro-Hamas" can be censored, with a series of bans being enacted by the German police recently from pro Palestine rallies, to keffiyehs and flags.
In recent days, British politician and former leader of the Labour party Jeremy Corbyn was disinvited from speaking at an event organised by the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, (RLF), on the relationship between the European and Latin American left.
Lankum are set to play at The Gig For Gaza in the 3Arena next Tuesday November 28th.
The 13,000-capacity 3Arena is set to host the 'Gig for Gaza', under the umbrella group Irish Artists For Palestine. The Gig's lineup also includes Damien Dempsey, Lisa O'Neill and The Mary Wallopers.
Originally planned for Vicar Street, the Gig for Gaza upgraded venue after tickets sold out online within minutes of going on sale. All original tickets still remain valid for the November 28th gig.
Speaking on the upcoming gig, Lankum issued a statement reading “Like most people of sound mind and reason around the globe, we are heartbroken and shocked to see the indiscriminate murder of children and civilians happening for the past few weeks. This, on top of decades of oppression, persecution and dehumanisation is something we can only struggle to comprehend."

Concluding the statement, "That is why we are very proud to raise our voices in solidarity with the people of Palestine".
"It's the very very least we can do"
