The forward-thinking day festival takes place at Clifton Downs, Bristol on August 25.
Massive Attack have outlined emission-reducing measures for their Act 1.5 event in Bristol next month.
Acclaimed Irish folk act Lankum are on the bill, alongside Killer Mike, Sam Morton and DJ Milo from the Wild Bunch. Robert Del Naja also said that it’s likely to be the “last time” Massive Attack play a gig in their hometown.
The show, initially announced last December, aims to set new standards for environmentally-friendly live music.
Decarbonisation measures include pre-sale priorities to people with postcodes in and around Bristol, as well as extra trains and electric shuttle buses to and from the venue.
The festival site will also be 100 percent powered by renewables, with all food outlets using 100 percent plant-based products from a localised supply chain. A reusable cup system will be in place at all bars, with punters encouraged to bring their own containers.

“We’ve put a lot of attention into making sure the experience is as rich as possible,” said Del Naja in a statement. “The show itself is a transgressive leap in our collaboration with Adam Curtis and United Visual Artists that we’re really excited to present.”
“The show production is pioneering in all aspects of decarbonisation and will create a blueprint for the way live shows can be produced. The scale of innovations and emissions reductions will speak for themselves. It’s a special moment for multiple reasons, and we cannot wait to see you all there.”
Massive Attack previously planned a similar event in 2021 in Liverpool, but the concert was cancelled after they found out the venue was also signed on to host an arms fair.
