The Miseducation singer has confirmed her Dublin show with the Fugees will go ahead as planned as she said she is “disappointed” to have to cancel her upcoming North American run.
After the U.S. reunion tour for Ms Lauryn Hill and the Fugees was cancelled and tickets refunded without immediate explanation, the singer issued a statement on Wednesday citing low ticket sales as the reason for calling off the tour, which was postponed after a "serious case of vocal strain".
The 18-date tour, planned to begin on Friday in Tampa, Florida, was cancelled earlier this week without an official statement from Hill or the Fugees, until Hill posted a statement addressing the cancellation.
The singer insisted that the ticket sales suffered as a result of what she deemed “clickbait headlines” after she previously canceled the final stretch of a tour last fall. As such, the "sensationalising" of the cancelled dates fostered a climate in which fans were reluctant to buy tickets for the 2024 tour, which was to have begun this Friday.
"Last year, I faced an injury that necessitated the rescheduling of some of my shows," Hill said in a statement. "Regrettably, some media outlets’ penchant for sensationalism and clickbait headlines have seemingly created a narrative that has affected ticket sales for the North American portion of the tour. The trust and faith I have in my intentions and my commitment to my art seem to have been overshadowed by this unfortunate portrayal."

She said the EU dates in Dublin, Manchester, London, Paris and Amsterdam will go ahead as scheduled, adding: “For our fans in North America, when these unforeseen circumstances are resolved, we’ll be back in full force”.
