The debut albums of Lauryn Hill, Guns N’ Roses and De La Soul announced among the 2024 inductees for the Grammy Hall of Fame.
The Recording Academy has announced that the debut works of hip hop legends Lauryn Hill and De La Soul will be inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame alongside the classic rock outfit Guns N’ Roses.
Hill’s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, De La Soul’s 3 Feet High and Rising and Guns N’ Roses’ Appetite For Destruction will be recognized for excellence at the inaugural Grammy Hall of Fame gala on 21st May among a host of other inductees, including Buena Vista Social Club, Donna Summer, the Doobie Brothers and more.
According to Grammy Hall of Fame guidelines, eligible albums must “exhibit qualitative or historical significance and are at least 25 years old.” This year’s gala marks the first of what will eventually become an annual event, complete with a red carpet, VIP reception and world-class live performances produced by Ken Ehrlich, Chantel Sausedo and Ron Basile.
“We're proud to unveil the diverse mix of recordings entering the Grammy Hall Of Fame in its 50th year," said Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. in a recent statement. "The music showcased here has played a pivotal role in shaping our cultural landscape, and it's a true honour to recognize these albums and recordings, along with the profound influence each has had on music and beyond.”
