As part of their “Electric Lady Sessions,” the Brooklyn band dropped a cover of the BBC-banned British synthpop classic
Also recorded at the New York studio sessions was a Spotify Singles set which featured a cover of Chic’s ‘I Want Your Love’.
‘(We Don’t Need This) Fascist Groove Thang’ was originally recorded almost 40 years ago in Sheffield by Heaven 17. It caused a stir when it was banned by the BBC. Now, just days before the US midterm elections, Soundsystem have released a rousing cover. The song lyrics declare: “Evil men with racist views, spreading all across the land. Don’t just sit there on your ass, unlock that funky chaindance. Brothers, sisters shoot your best.”
The band recently released a brand new video for their single ‘Oh Baby’. American Dream, the bands most recent album and first in eight years, was released last year and won a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording.
