The song appears on the soundtrack of Noah Baumbach's new film adaptation of White Noise by American novelist Don DeLillo.
American rock band LCD Soundsystem have returned with their first song in five years, titled 'new body rhumba' (from the film White Noise)'.
The seven-minute long track was made for Noah Baumbach’s new film adaptation of American novelist Don DeLillo’s White Noise. Described as a prime example of postmodern literature, the book tells the story of protagonist Jack Gladney, the creator and chairman of Hitler studies at the College-on-the-Hill, who is forced to face his own mortality following an unexpected incident.
The forthcoming Netflix film stars the likes of Adam Diver, Greta Gerwig, Don Cheadle, and Jodie Turner-Smith, and will feature music composed by Danny Elfman.
LCD Soundsystem, who played an outdoor show at Malahide Castle in Dublin in 2018, announced their new single in August this year. 'new body rhumba' is the band's first original new music since their fourth studio album American Dream dropped in September 2017.
2019 also saw the release of their live album Electric Lady Sessions.

Frontman James Murphy and co. initially split up in 2011 and performed a farewell show at Madison Square Garden in New York on April 2, 2011. The concert was captured on their 2014 near-unedited live album The Long Goodbye: LCD Soundsystem Live at Madison Square Garden.
However, the band has been active releasing covers and remixes, and returned with a number of shows in Brooklyn last year as well as additional residencies in Boston, Philadelphia, Oakland, and San Francisco marking their 20th anniversary in 2022. They also performed as musical guests on SLN earlier this year.
Murphy announced on Facebook in March that LCD Soundsystem would be releasing "just singles for a while, so there isn’t some ‘album panic’.
"you stand still long enough, and it all spins back around. dreams never end," he reassured fans.
White Noise had its world premiere at the 79th Venice International Film Festival on August 31, 2022. The film is scheduled to be released in select cinemas on November 25, 2022, before its streaming release on December 30, 2022, by Netflix.
