He was best known for championing artists such as The Saints and Keith Urban.
Mark Moffatt, the Queensland-born producer known for working with Keith Urban, The Saints and more, has died aged 74.
A statement announcing his passing from pancreatic cancer was posted last Friday (September 6), containing a statement from his wife Linsdsey: “Mark Moffatt,” she wrote, “lifelong musician and producer who devoted his life to music, died Friday September 6 at age 74 in Nashville, Tennessee.”
She continued: “As much as Moffatt loved his music, his first love was his family. He is survived by his wife, Lindsey, step-daughter Dana and two granddaughters—the loves of his life—his son Geordie, and extended family in Australia.”
Moffatt was widely regarded as one of the most legendary names in the world of production to come from Australia, helping create the most tracks out of any producer in the APRA Top 30 Australian songs.
He is well-known working on the iconic The Saints’ track ‘I’m Stranded’ in the mid-70’s, as well as being one of the first to champion a young Keith Urban and working on the Yothu Yindi hit single ‘Treaty’.
