Lemmy passed away in his LA home days after being diagnosed with terminal cancer and now his official cause of death has been confirmed
Days after turning 70 and being diagnosed with terminal cancer that had spread to his brain and neck, rock icon Lemmy passed away in his LA home. The report confirming his actual cause of death was released today January 20th by the Los Angeles Department of Public Health.
The certificate that was issued this morning gives the exact cause of death as "prostate cancer, cardiac arrhythmia, and congestive heart failure". Lemmy had been unwell for some time but the severity of his illness was unknown.
Lemmy enjoyed a career spanning almost 50 years and his death came as a shock to the music world with many citing him as an influence and friend. Dave Grohl, Ozzy Osbourne, Duff McKagan, Metallica and Gene Simmons all took to Twitter to offer their condolences and share their memories of him after the band had announced his passing via a Facebook post.

Motorhead confirmed that Lemmy's memorial service would be streamed via Youtube on January 9th and urged people to watch the service online to show their respects to him. It is estimated that almost three hundred thousand people live-streamed the rock legends memorial service, a gesture that shows how important he was to the world of music.
