Let's Do It
Galway garage poppers Dott will appeal to anyone who’s ever found themselves watching Popical Island label mates Squarehead and thinking, “Great, but could do with more vaginas.” Of course, as well as being incredibly twisted, such individuals will also be selling Anna McCarthy, Laura Finnegan, Nicola Cosgrove and Tony Higgins grossly short. Dott’s debut EP Buttons carries the dreamy, lo-fi sound favoured by the Dublin label, but it’s not to be mistaken for a chord-for-chord copy of the Popical blueprint. Taking cues from doo wop legends The Ronettes, ‘Let’s Do It’ is sweeter and brighter than your average piece of garage pop, while still boasting a grungy, Pixies-esque edge.
