Not even a week after Lewis Capaldi shared Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent, it's already projected to break the top 20 in the Official Album Charts with 68,000 chart sales midweek.
Just last week, this month's Hot Press cover star, Lewis Capaldi, dropped his long-awaited sophomore album Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent.
Now, the Official Charts not only report that he's expected to climb to the top of the Official Albums Chart Top 20, but has far outpaced the other Top 20 by breaking 68,000 chart sales midweek. And that's after launching three different tracks from the album to the peak #1 spot, taking the charts by storm.
The three tracks in question are the likes of 'Forget Me,' 'Promise,' and 'Wish You The Best.' 'Forget Me' and 'Pointless,' already topped the singles charts when they were released ahead of the album, but 'Wish You The Best' was only dropped on May 18th.
It wouldn't be the first time the Glaswegian artist will have accomplished the feat of #1 Album. Back in 2019, after the release of Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent was released on May 17th, it hit the top of the Irish Albums Chart as the second fastest-selling album in Ireland that year. It was even the longest chart-topping debut album in Ireland in over 15 years, spending 10 weeks at the top.
almost 4 years to the day since my first album came out.. I’m so happy that ‘broken by desire to be heavenly sent’ is finally yours!!! 🎉
i hope you love it as much as I do ❤️ x

'Wish You The Best' debuted a day before the larger album's release during an NPR tiny desk concert, introduced with Capaldi's classic dry wit: "Fuck it, here we go." The song's premiere came a month after Capaldi's "defining year" documentary special hit the streaming platform Netflix.
The other albums in the running for Top 5 are reportedly Def Leppard's collaborative project with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for Drastic Symphonies, Sleep Toke's Take Me Back To Eden, and Ghost's EP Phantomime.
Fans of Lewis Capaldi should also be excited for his upcoming tour now that the album is out. Before headlining this year's Electric Picnic, he's set to play this year's Glastonbury Festival. Following both festival performances, he'll make his way to Ireland as a part of his European tour. He'll play at SSE Arena in Belfast January 29th and make a return to Dublin's 3Arena on January 30th after a stunning show earlier this year.
