The Game Of Thrones star wasn't mincing words at the RDS this afternoon, as he put Enda Kenny and co. on blast, saying "It's embarrassing that its lost"
While the meat of Liam Cunningham's talk at the Web Summit this afternoon related to the changing landscape of television, he also launched a pointed attack on the powers-that-be for allowing the Web Summit to move from Ireland.
This is the final occasion the tech gathering will occur in leafy Ballsbridge, with next year's event scheduled for Lisbon.
"The people responsible for losing this didn't realise the diamond they had in their hands," said the Game Of Thrones star. "The entire government should be on its knees to Paddy.
"It's embarrassing that it's lost."
His outspoken views were perhaps the most notable references of the day to the saga that has seen the global gathering look abroad for the foreseeable future, as the morning's early addresses looked to concentrate on the three days ahead rather than further down the line.
There to talk about the golden era of TV - and the ever changing TV landscape - the actor also gave an interesting insight into his views on telly nowadays. 'It's too expensive to buy programs and they sort of want to bring these new ways of watching TV into your living room through drama. Drama is a way of making you feel like you're not alone in the world and that's what I do.'
Technology, of course, affects the industry in far more ways than how we consume. 'Very few directors shoot their films on real film," he pointed out. "JJ Abrams and Quentin Tarantino for example still do. When I was in Venice recently for the film festival to present a new film that I'm in, 'Childhood Of A Leader', they had to get in a film projector that could project 35 mm film. They didn't have it, because everything's digital now."
