A life in the day of a Rolling Stones tour
The Cranberries are in Europe supporting the Rolling Stones on the latest leg of their Licks World Tour.
As has become Stones tradition, Mick, Keith, Charlie and Ronnie popped into the Cranberries' dressing-room shortly before their June 4 opening night set in Munich's Olympic Stadium.
"Mick, needless to say, made an immediate beeline for Dolores while the others talked to the lads," reports our man-on-the-spot Paul Russell who's currently collaborating with Dolores on an official biography that'll be surfacing next year. "Charlie Watts was a bit quiet, but everybody else was in flying form. Needless to say, the Cranberries floated on stage to play their set which lasted 45 minutes and got a good percentage of the 17,000-crowd up on their feet."
Russell was privy afterwards to one of the more unlikely rock 'n' roll collaborations.
"I was in the Thai restaurant where Liam Gallagher had his teeth kicked in, and saw Dolores singing a song from a musical with Brian Johnson of AC/DC," he continues, "who then told some of the rudest stories I've ever heard! They're also on the bill for three of the Stones' German shows, so it was a good getting-to-know-you session."
