After being forced to close in March 2020 due to the pandemic, the popular outdoor venue announced they're opening their doors with a spectacular summer lineup.
DeBarra’s Folk Club Clonakilty is finally back in business for live performances in their intimate outdoor setting, the beer garden and brand new yard garden.
Their exciting lineup features Kulini, Wayward Folk, The Next New Low, Niall Thomas, DeBarra’s Trad Session, Maria Doyle Kennedy, DeBarra’s Spoken Word, Luka Bloom, Anna’s Anchor, Chris Kent, Gearoid Farrelly, Lisa Hannigan, John Spillane, The Vespertine Quartet, Sharon Shannon, Junior Brother, Neil Delamare, Susan O’Neill, Jape, Míde Houlihan, and NewDad, with even more to be announced over the coming weeks.
DeBarra will also be showcasing a world-exclusive collaboration between acclaimed West Cork based writer David Mitchell (Cloud Atlas, Utopia Avenue) and New Zealand singer-songwriter Hollie Fullbrook of Tiny Ruins.
During lockdown, Mitchell reimagined Fullbrook's songs with Tiny Ruins as reflective short fiction, while Fullbrook reimagined Mitchell's prose as bewitching songs. The pair are thrilled to present what they promise to be an innovative artistic mosaic of story and song in a unique and intimate performance.
In the announcement, Ray Blackwell, the manager of DeBarra’s venue stated: “DeBarra’s is like a big old mythical creature and she’s been asleep for a while… now she’s waking she needs her belly rubbed and ears scratched regularly. It’s great to hear music and laughter and applause in her once again, to witness experts in their craft and trade back doing what they do best… It stirs the beast, tends the itch for now, and gives us some hope for tomorrow. Onwards!”
