The Canada-based artist releases her third single - following 'damn' and 'hurt' - from her forthcoming album.
Ada Lea (the moniker of Alexandra Levy) releases a new single and accompanying video to her newest single, 'partner'.
This meditative tune is the third single from her upcoming album, one hand on the steering wheel the other sewing a garden, out September 24th on Saddle Creek.
In a video directed by Erica Orofino, Lea sings tenderly with bright-eyed introspection as she journeys through a city late at night, her lyrics unfurling over piano, synth, and a drum machine.
Levy describes it as “a song about moving through a memory...an involuntary memory that steals up on you the night after a rager (which takes place the morning after the song ‘damn’).”
'partner' is one of the songs that makes up the intricate Montreal memory map Lea constructs in one hand on the steering wheel the other sewing a garden. The album is a series of vignettes of city life, featuring local haunts Fameux, La Rockette, and Quai des Brumes in rearview reverie. The city exists as both the location of and a character in many of these songs.
one hand on the steering wheel the other sewing a garden will be Ada Lea's second album release, following her 2019 debut what we say in private.
