'Backstage at Mike The Pies' is produced and presented by Megan O’Donoghue, and features some of the brilliant artists who have played socially-distanced shows at Mike The Pies during lockdown.
Hot Press's podcast series, 'Backstage At Mike the Pies', continues – with Susan O'Neill (SON) featuring on Episode 11.
Hailing from Co. Clare, genre-blending singer-songwriter Susan O'Neill honed her musical skills as one of the youngest members of the Ennis Brass Band, and gained her first gospel influences with the Really Truly Joyful Gospel Choir. She went on to play with the acclaimed Irish band King Kong Company, as well as traditional music icon Sharon Shannon – while also crafting her own unique sound as a solo artist.
Susan has recently been collaborating with multi-platinum-selling artist, Mick Flannery, on a duet album (set to released later this year) – following the release of their collaborative track, 'Baby Talk', which took home Best Original Folk Track at the RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards 2020.
She released her latest single, 'Give Me Good Reason' last week.
Since the beginning of lockdown, Mike The Pies has hosted a series of special gigs, run with the support of the Department of Tourism, Culture, the Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, as part of the Live Performance Support scheme. As part of the Backstage at Mike The Pies podcast series, host Megan O'Donoghue chats to some of the exciting up-and-coming artists who have graced the stage of the legendary Listowel venue, which has built up a reputation as one of Ireland's most beloved music halls.
