LISTEN: Cat Dowling shares title track from upcoming album, Animals
Listen to the latest single from the Dublin-based, Kilkenny-born artist below.
Cat Dowling has shared her latest single 'Animals' from her upcoming album. The eponymous record will be released November 12 via FIFA Records.
'Animals' is the third single release this year from Dowling, who was born in Kilkenny and is now based in Dublin. 'Freedom' and 'Trouble' were both released earlier this year and were accompanied by music videos directed by Alba Lahoz and Fergal Costello, respectively.
"I wrote 'Animals' during a busy period of my life when to find those rare moments to write music meant I had to be a thief elsewhere," said Dowling. "But it was these stolen moments that gave me oxygen and a beautiful almost supernatural energy."
She described the track as "hypnotic," and said, "it's about the major and minor of life and of love and the constant pull in everything between major and minor and the light and the dark. It's a song ultimately of passion, wildness, sensuality and love."
Animals follows Dowling's 2013 debut LP, The Believer. Supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, the album was partially recorded at Crossroads Studio in Kilkenny and co-produced by Gerry Hogan and Dowling herself.
