Aonair (Brendan McGlynn) will follow up his debut EP, 'Surf’s Up' with his sophomore effort later this year.
Irish multi-instrumentalist Aonair has dropped his latest single ‘Your Man’ - taken from his upcoming EP, Loveheart Birthmark.
Donegal native Brendan McGlynn has cut his teeth performing in several different bands, but his latest solo venture Aonair sees him truly stepping into his own.
‘Your Man’ is a spacey, psychedelic ode to '80s synth pop and is based around the subject matters of desire and possession.
“This is a song about desire, a desire to be with someone, to have them in your life but also a desire to be a catalyst for growth and respect - and there is nothing more sexy than that,” Aonair says about the track in a new press release.
The track was inspired by '70s disco band LAX and their track ‘All My Love,’ which was released back in 1975. “They turned the idea of masculinity and possession on its head,” Aonair enthuses.

“In a time when males dominated the music industry and sexism and discrimination was huge within the arts. I wanted to write a modern day version of that, spreading the same message that desire and control are massively different things,” the rising musician added.
Aonair's forthcoming EP is the former Thumper collaborator’s answer to the post-punk movement. “The initial concept for the EP was to create something flashy, extravagant and glamorous - the antithesis to the post-punk movement. I want to make something deeply uncool, wear my heart on my sleeve and make people want to dance,” he said.
