The remix is in celebration of the upcoming ten-year anniversary of Metronomy's third album, 'The English Riviera'.
US indie-rock outfit MGMT has shared their atmospheric remix of Metronomy's 2010 single 'The Look'.
The Brooklyn psych-pop band give the track a more ethereal, dreamy vibe while adding in a full minute of instrumentals to the original.
Multi-instrumentalists Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser formed MGMT back in 2002, and have been touring and sharing music under the moniker ever since. English electronic music group Metronomy was created in 1999, with current members Joseph Mount, Oscar Cash, Anna Prior, Olugbenga Adelekan and Michael Lovett.
'The Look' remains Metronomy’s most popular single, featuring on the band’s third album The English Riviera. The group intend to reissue the album on April 30th via Because Music with six previously unreleased tracks. The reissue will be available on limited edition and numbered heavyweight 180g vinyl, with an etched fantascope on side D.
“When we perform ‘The Look’ live and I hear thousands of people chanting the bit that gets stuck in your head back at me, der-de-der-der, it often brings a tear to my eye,” frontman Joseph Mount said in a press release.
“It really is amazing what that seaside song and this whole album has done for Metronomy.”

Metronomy’s most recent album, Metronomy Forever, arrived in 2019. The collective released a new project titled ‘Oscar Cash Forever’ back in April 2020, with videos directed by Joseph Mount.
The band will embark on a 10th anniversary tour for The English Riviera in 2022, with dates in the UK and Ireland. They hope to return to Ireland with a show at The Olympia Theatre, Dublin on April 26th 2022, but COVID-19 restrictions will likely lead to its postponement.
