The Dubliner's newest track releases mere hours before his appearance at Other Voices tonight.
Originally scheduled for release in 2023, London-based Dublin musician, Monjola, has dropped his single 'Mama Always Says' early.
While touring Europe with Kid Cudi and Biig Piig, the new track gained popularity, clearly becoming an audience favourite and demanding an earlier release date.
Always unpredictable with his genre-blending style, 'Mama Always Says' has thrown Monjola in another musical direction, once again.
Formidable hip-hop beats front the alternative R&B piece, boasting electro-pop elements to keep the ear guessing. An effortlessly melodic vocal eases into the track, with heart-warming lyricism keeping listeners interested.
“Mama always said, kill ‘em with the kindness!” glides over the heavy beats as Monjola recounts life lessons passed down from his mother. Incredibly catchy - the track proves an earworm.

‘Mama Always Says’ was produced by Joe Brown, the in-house producer/engineer at XL Recordings.
Speaking about this release, Monjola said: "This song was made so quickly, it came so naturally. Joe played me the beat by accident and I went to the booth and freestyled the whole track. It was inspired by my Mum and the morals that she raised myself and my siblings on."
Visuals for the track were posted on Monjola's socials, not for the full track yet - but we're crossing our fingers a full music video will be released soon!
In the teaser video, directed by Robert Bass and Eoin Byrne, a smiley Monjola dances through different scenes, both by himself and with a group of people. A playful use of colour highlights the joy in the musician throughout each of the scenes - with visual cues seamlessly linked to audio cues throughout.
The video cuts out with Monjola kicking towards the camera.
