‘Adonis’ is named after the Greek God of desire and explores the singer’s feelings of unrequited love for a friend. The video features several scenes shot around Dublin City Centre.
Grey’s soulful vocals convey a deep yearning, one she explains as “the conversation of us, as black women, waiting on our black knights or Adonis in this case, to come swoop us away. We've almost idolized our ‘black love’ fairy tale. On the other side, Adonis hasn't limited himself to this fairy tale”.
