'A Lifetime of Happiness' is the title of the much anticipated new album from Dublin singer and bouzouki-player Daoiri Farrell.
Since winning 'Best Newcomer' and 'Best Original Track' at the prestigious BBC 2 Folk Awards in 2017, Daoiri's profile and career trajectory have taken him to stages from the Royal Albert Hall to festivals in the US, Canada and Australia including a tour with the all-star 'Transatlantic Sessions' in major venues throughout the UK.
A former electrician, Daoiri decided to try his hand at being a musician after being particularly moved by a Christy Moore performance on TV. He went on to study at the University of Limerick where Fintan Vallely introduced him to the singing of the late Liam Weldon, a moment which was to prove formative to his sound and his approach to folk singing. He has recently been described as one of the most important singers to come out of Ireland in recent years.
This new album, his third, is his most ambitious to date, beautifully showcasing his unique vocals with production by Donal Lunny and contributions from some of Ireland's best traditional musicians, including Donal himself on bass, keyboard, bouzouki and guitar; Pat Daly on fiddle, Sean Potts and Mark Redmond on uileann pipes and whistles, Sean Garvey & Peter Browne on accordions, Robbie Walsh on bodhran, Tara Finn on concertina and backing vocals, Avril Crotty on cello, Maire Ni Chronain on backing vocals and Geoff Kinsella on mandolin.
