'Gay Girls' is the latest single from Dublin indie quartet Pillow Queens.
Following their debut EP State of the State, Pillows Queens have come out with a new single 'Gay Girls'. The Dublin indie quartet recorded the track in just two days with Attica Studios in Co. Donegal. The single was produced by Tommy McLaughlin. A Mercury Prize nominated and Choice Music prize winning producer, McLaughlin has worked with artists such as Villagers, Soak and Bell X1.
Thematically the song touches on feelings of intoxicating lust coupled with relentless repression. These themes are realised through the lyrics and the music which convey an upbeat appreciation of both the negative and positive attributes of both. The theme of religion within Gay Girls is also accented nicely by a rapturous choral outro of the song.
Listen to 'Gay Girls' below, out now.
Pillow Queens will play dates across Ireland over the coming weeks, including Galway, Belfast and Limerick along with their biggest headline show to date in Whelans on 24 November.
