Galway native Ruth Mac has today shared her beguiling debut single 'Speed'.
Ruth Mac defines her music as standing "at an intersection of soft rock and folk, with distinct blues and soul influences".
Having gigged consistently over the last year (including at Ones To Watch, Hey Troubadour, Aidlink for Turkana), Mac has been commended for blending smooth instrumentation with raw, earthy vocals in a live performance which captures the imagination of listeners.
'Speed', which was written while Mac was on a residency in Lisbon, showcases the singer's those unique vocals, as she sings of dancing, love, relationship-compromise and speed (not the drug) over a steady soft rock rhythm.
The song was co-produced by Alex Di Camillo, with Oh Boland's Niall Murphy helping out on guitar, and Barra MacMahon on bass.
Mac, who is currently based in Berlin, is working on her debut EP and is preparing for Irish shows later in the year.
