'Fractured' is the newest release from one of Ireland's finest, and most accomplished, musicians.
Mixing the town with the city, the provincial with the urban, and the sacred with the profane, The Lost Brothers feature on this track and sing fractured vignettes about a fractured society. Sounding as beautiful as ever, the lyrics pines for purity in a world which offers only disillusion and moral bankruptcy.
There's a hint of country rock in the sliding guitars which weave their way throughout the song - highlighting Steve's continuing fascination with the American tradition - but the real distinguishing quality once again is Wickham's warmth and feeling as he delivers a masterclass on the violin. Par excellence in that regard, Wickham proves once again why he's held the title of Ireland's most loved violinista for so many years.
'Fractured' is the second single from Steve's newest album Beekeeper, which is out now and can be ordered here. A diverse, colourful and intelligent collection, Beekeeper is another masterstroke from the world-class violinist who has previously performed with the likes of U2 and Elvis Costello; it also features some surprising and exciting guest performances from the likes of Joe Chester and Mike Scott.
