R&B icon SZA has self-released 3 new songs, ‘Joni,’ ‘I Hate You’ and ‘Nightbird.’
SZA has released three new tracks from an anonymous Soundcloud account on Sunday, August 22nd, much to the delight of her passionate fanbase.
The R&B star dropped ‘Joni',’ ‘I Hate You’ and ‘Nightbird’ on an account credited to “.” and based in “nowhere, United States.” She shared a link to the page on her official Twitter account. “dumping random thoughts,” she wrote in the post.

SZA also seemed to confirm the upcoming release of ‘Shirt’ which she previewed at a Grey Goose’s In Bloom live stream event. She replied to a fan on Twitter who wrote “We love you but we also love Shirt.” The singer replied saying “She nex.”

All three new songs showcases SZA's musical diversity. ‘Nightbird’ is a chilled out R&B track featuring a guitar laden beat. ‘Joni’ showcases her vocal ability in a short folk-inspired ballad and ‘I Hate You’ features SZA switching up between passionate, emotional vocals and relaxed verses.
The 30-year old was inspired by her astrology reader to drop the unexpected tracks, according to a tweet. The singer also promised “More word vomit later,” in the post.

SZA recently featured on the Space Jam: A New Legacy soundtrack with her collaboration with SAINt JHN on ‘Just For Me.’ The songwriter teamed up with Doja Cat for their hit ‘Kiss Me More’ in April. Her single ‘Good Days’ dropped in December 2020 as she recently collaborated with Isaiah Rashad, 6lack and Kenny Beats on ‘Score.’

The singer, whose real name is Solána Imani Rowe, dropped her debut album Ctrlin 2017. She is set to drop a new album soon however the neo-soul artist has remained secretive about the project.
"I think they’ll be surprised to know that it’s not what they thought, and it’s not coming when they thought," she said. "I hope that they’ll be pleasantly surprised."
2021 has been a hectic year for the superstar as she hopped on the NFT (Non-fungible tokens craze) after a number of livestream appearances. SZA was also nominated for three MTV VMA prizes. She is up for the gong for Best R&B, Best Collaboration for ‘Kiss Me More’ with Doja Cat and Best Video for their hit-single.
