'American Soul' is taken from the band's upcoming album, Songs of Experience.
This is the second track on this album to feature Lamar, with the first being the single 'Get Our Of Your Own Way', which was released on November 1st.
'American Soul' is a reworked version of 'XXX', which also featured U2 and appears on Lamar's acclaimed 2017 album Damn.
Songs of Experience comes out on December 1st and is a companion album to 2014's Songs of Innocence, which documented the group's upbringing in the 1970's. This, their fourteenth album is written as a series of personal letters to people and places close to Bono, including family, friends, fans and himself
Recorded in Dublin, New York and Los Angeles, Songs of Experience was completed earlier this year with its subject matter influenced by Brendan Kennelly’s advice to Bono, to “write as if you’re dead”.
Produced by Jacknife Lee and Ryan Tedder, with Steve Lillywhite, Andy Barlow and Jolyon Thomas, the album also features a cover image by Anton Corbijn of the band-members’ teenage children Eli Hewson and Sian Evans.
The band already shared the first single, titled 'You're The Best Thing About Me' on September 6th and a performance video for the song, 'The Blackout'.
