Dublin act are definitely ones to watch...
A jam-packed Button Factory tonight, with a May Vicar St. gig already in the bag; inclusion on the BBC’s Sound of 2013, and both SXSW and Coachella lined up for the summer – there’s no doubt Little Green Cars are, to quote Zoolander, so hot right now. Factor in that the Dublin five-piece have yet to release their debut album, and we’re looking at one potentially massive Irish act here.
Stepping out onto the stage tonight, it’s clear from the young band’s first goosepimply a cappella harmonies that LGC have become an even tighter act than when HP caught them at Castlepalooza last year.

Though they keep the chat to a minimum, they have a commanding presence on the stage, with Stevie Appleby and Faye O’Rourke alternating on lead vocals, the latter’s gorgeous voice reminiscent at times of ‘80s greats like T’Pau and Bonnie Tyler, particularly on the epic ballads in their repertoire. Dipping into rock and country territories, they whet the appetite very effectively for Absolute Zero (out next month). Highlights tonight include excellent new single, ‘Harper Lee’, ‘My Love Took Me Down To The River (To Silence Me)’ and set closer, the mighty ‘John Wayne’. Expect to see much more of Little Green Cars in the future.
