Little Green Cars’ blend ‘60s West-Coast pop, folk, blues and experimental rock in a manner that defies conventional genre limitations...
For Little Green Cars the past 12 months have been nothing short of life-changing.
Gloriously out-of-step with the banality of modern ‘indie’.
Opener ‘Harper Lee’ showcases Little Green Cars at their powerful and emotive best. Its intricate melody and pitch-perfect harmonies are reminiscent of classic ‘70s Fleetwood Mac. A rousing rendition of ‘Angel Owl’ is followed by the wonderful ‘Please’, with a jaw-dropping lead vocal from Faye O’Rourke.
Crowd-pleaser supreme ‘My Love Took Me Down To The River To Silence Me’ begins with euphoric chanting and clapping, the band silhouetted darkly against a wash of pale light.
Later, a member of the audience gifts frontman Stevie Appleby a red rose, prompting his improvised rhyme “Roses are red, daisies are plain, this is the last song and it’s called ‘The John Wayne’!”
The beefed-up live version has the crowd in raptures and the band depart to a suitably rousing ovation. These guys could be huge.
