Recorded at various locations in Ireland and America over the last four years including Whelan’s, Roisín Dubh and St Kevin’s Church in Hollywood, it captures the undeniable presence and power that Smither has as a performer.
Smither is also a fine songwriter, here including tracks from his most recent studio albums alongside covers of Robert Johnson’s Elmore James-associated classic, ‘Dust My Broom’ and Rolly Sally’s album-closing ‘Killin’ The Blues’. The rough hewn smoky voice of Smither tells these stories well and with real conviction.
