Live Forever

Oasis: “Live Forever” (Creation)

Okay, Oasis probably are a little bit more than this year’s Big Thing, but they still sound too much like an exploitation of England’s desire for another Beatles to reassure everyone that the good times have not all gone. With it’s sweet sweeping melody and idealistic harmonies, not unlike The Stone Roses, ‘Live Forever’ also sounds as if these lads have learned their “how to be a classic pop band” lessons just a little too well. Oasis are a good band, but greatness requires more originality.
