Revisit the Cork singer-songwriter's powerful live-streamed performance from Saturday, August 14th – supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media...
Rising pop singer-songwriter Goldie Bron$on gave a stellar performance on Saturday's edition of the Y&E Series, introducing a mix of original tracks and covers for his audience.
Having initially built up a reputation as Sean Sutton, the Cork-based singer-songwriter continues to expand his musical horizons as Goldie Bron$on.
As well as genre-blending collaborations with several producers, he’s also been gaining traction through both his busking and his online platform, where he shares stunning acoustic covers – and has already been earning comparisons to the likes of Dermot Kennedy.
Under his new moniker, Goldie Bron$on released two powerful singles this year – ‘Far Apart’ with German DJ Kenaj, and ‘Dial’ with hotly tipped Dublin producer Uwmami.
Kicking off his Y&E Series set, Sutton enlisted the violin talents of Ryan Parsons and vocalist David James Murphy for musical support.

Starting off strong with his latest single 'Dial', Goldie's trademark raw voice paired with emotionally charged lyrics set the perfect scene - not to mention Parsons' strings adding to the track's melancholy mood. Next up came an unreleased acoustic song, titled 'If I Ruled The World'. An uplifting tune, Goldie follows his second offering with an impressive cover of Daniel Caeser's hit song 'Best Part', featuring H.E.R. Delivering another unreleased single in the form of poignant track 'Pictures', Goldie sounds at his best for the performance.
David James Murphy adds beautiful harmonies for Bron$on's cover of Billie Eilish's When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? hit 'when the party's over'. A notoriously difficult song to sing; the trio put their own stamp on the cover, with the strings section layering the vocals in musical magic.
Previously unheard track 'Get Up and Go' and Bron$on's take on Dermot Kennedy's chart anthem 'Power Over Me' round out Goldie's Y&E Series show, finishing with a self-confessed "cringe" track - only the second song he ever wrote. Watch this space, this Cork artist surely has chart success in his future.

Thursday, August 19: ALI COMERFORD
After touring the world performing viola in classical ensembles for 14 years, Ali Comerford returned to her native Kilkenny during lockdown last year, to record her acclaimed debut album, Knots – featuring folk-based, classical-influenced original songs, entirely written, sung, played and produced by herself. Ali's journey in music has taken her to New York’s Carnegie Hall, London’s Royal Albert Hall and Dublin’s National Concert Hall – but after spending the last decade of her life playing other people's music, the time has come for her to step into the spotlight as a solo artist. Hot Press described Knots as "a beautifully orchestrated debut."
