Never failing to impress, Ham Sandwich knock out another memorable night at Whelan's.
With two packed out nights in Whelan's, you won't want to have missed Ham Sandwich! As usual, the group were nothing short of the full package. Our Irish indie darlings know how to put on a full show!
With an array of instruments squeezed onto the stage, yet still allowing front women, Niamh Farrell just enough room to dance and show off the stunning outfit, red tassels on her jumpsuit swaying to the music, encouraging the audience to join with every move.
While it’s impossible to gather all the best musicians in Dublin onto the same stage, Ham Sandwich make that goal seem a little closer to possible.
From the beginning, the crowd who were bustling with excitement sang along to the groups well known songs such as 'The Naturist' . Slowing it down a little for 'Ants', a song close to give the bopping along audience a break from dancing perhaps? Though it didn't stop them swaying along and chorusing the lyics back to the band.
But that's not all Ham Sandwich had in store for us! Between Podge MacNamee cracking jokes, we were treated with some new music, my personal favourite being 'The Pact' a hint at a fourth album soon perhaps? My fingers are crossed anyway!
As the night progress, I retreated to the top shelf, allowing some avid fans on the busy floor to inch even closer to the action, and so I could get a birds eye view of the party as Niamh pitched the crowd against each other in a sing off of "Doo Doo Doos" for 'Illuminate' - a fast paced pop-rock bop!

Meanwhile, upstairs, a drum solo led to an intense dance battle by two enthusiastic fans upstairs was kicking off!
Alas, sadly the night had to come to an end, Niamh's request to the crowd to "Please go as fucking apeshit as you can" did not fall on deaf ears! An explosion of confetti above the mass of dancing bodies below was quite the sight to be seen.
What a show!
If you did manage to miss Ham Sandwich in Whelan's be sure to catch them at one of their upcoming dates here!
