Revisit the hotly tipped singer-songwriter's performance on last Friday's Y&E Series – supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.
The independent release of her debut EP, Wildflower, last year established Lorraine Nash as a star-in-the-making – garnering widespread radio play and critical acclaim. Now the Kerry singer-songwriter has signed with FIFA Records – and is set offer us a taste of what to expect from her highly anticipated debut album with the release of her new single, 'Sing With Her', on April 30.
Nash kickstarted her Y&E livestream show with her track 'Changing Tides', taken from her June 2020 Wildflower EP. With her trademark easygoing presence and gorgeous vocal prowess, the folk artist brings everyday observations and vulnerability to her songwriting. Nash made sure to deliver a lengthy setlist on the night, packing in an impressive nine tracks.
'Wandering Song' and a beautiful piano cover of Chris Isaak's hit 'Wicked Game' were then followed by original track 'A Minute', which has yet to be released on streaming platforms. A down-tempo number about putting it all on the line for just a moment of someone's time, the song features Nash's usual catchy melodies and honest lyrics - with striking results. Lorraine also performed a string of piano renditions, including fellow Wildflower EP track 'Breathe', the poignant 'Lowlights' and December 2020's 'Winter Song'.
Nash finished off her jam-packed set with 'River' on guitar before offering her latest single, 'Sing With Her', which is due for release this Friday. Nash was inspired to pen 'Sing With Her' following the publication of Ireland's gender disparity reports on national radio by Linda Coogan-Byrne. The song invites white, cisgender, male pop artists to create room at the table for people who identify as women.
