MVP of All Together Now's first weekend thus far has been 22-year-old Guernsey-born Mura Masa who delivered a diverse but relentlessly engaging Saturday main stage spot.
Playing everything from pop ('Complicated') to electronic ('Hell'), to hip-hop ('Nuggets') to funk ('Lovesick'), perhaps the greatest feat of the set is that the audience never got whiplash from the radical switching between different genres. That's down to two reasons - a constant sense of propulsion and an incredible special guest.
In regards the first, there was never a dull moment in any set. No matter the style of genre, each song was fast, bombastic and designed to make audiences to dance. It succeeded.
While Mura Masa himself aka Alex Crossan spent most of the time behind decks, he kept the crowd engaged by recruiting frequent collaborator and Dublin raised Bonzai to sing each track and rile the main stage audience.
This was no easy feat. Given Mura Masa is not a singer, many of his songs rely on guest spots from people as different as Charlie XCX and ASAP Rocky. Yet, Bonzai didn't just live up to the task - managing to sing and rap with amazing proficiency - she also pulled the most incredible, energetic dance moves consistently throughout the show. At one point she was practically break dancing as her blue tinted dreads shot into the air.

While Bonzai scene stole for sure, Mura Masa also impressed working decks, playing guitar and banging drums - often all during the same song. His rendition of instrumental 'Hell' - one of the few times Bonzai wasn't on stage - was perhaps the highlight, sounding like the insane soundtrack to a futuristic Asian gangster flick.
However, picking a favourite track from the night seems unfair as it was a thunderingly good set all around. Mura Masa even premiered some great new tunes, ones for which Hot Press will be eagerly awaiting their studio versions.
