On the first night of five sold-out shows, the Dublin trio gave a scintillating performance.
First appearing with a video onscreen of the band backstage making their way to the stage, The Coronas first night at 3Olympia Theatre was exciting from beginning to end. Adoration from the crowd was immediately apparent, as each member took their place in the packed venue amid whoops and cheers.
Recent cover stars of Hot Press, the group consists of Danny O’Reilly, Conor Egan, and Graham Knox. The trio were joined onstage by several artists to form a supergroup of sorts, including Cian McSweeney of True Tides, All Tvvins’ guitarist Lar Kaye, Cormac Butler, and the frontman's sister Róisín Ó.
The group kicked their performance off with a rendition of ‘Confirmation’, much to fans’ delight, as they swayed and sang along. With keyboard playing by Róisín Ó and Cormac Butler on fiddle, the track embodied a powerhouse of energy.

Confetti erupted with the next song, as The Coronas burst into ‘Addicted To Progress’, with Danny playing the track’s beautiful melody on keyboard, before stopping at the final chorus to let the audience take over and sing the song back to him.
With kaleidoscopic patterns adorning the stage, the band launched into ‘Strive’. Conor’s steady drum beat propelled the song along with Cian’s saxophone, Danny greeted the audience, saying hello and high-fiving people.
It was a pleasure to see The Coronas so happy to be home, and welcomed back so warmly. Danny made the group’s gratitude towards their fans clear, speaking about the nerves pre-show, even though they’re always received with love and excitement.
During ‘The Long Way’, the crowd put their phone torches on, waving in the air during the powerful ballad, as Danny’s passionate vocals flooded the venue.

Róisin Ó sang ‘That’s Exactly What Love Is’ with Danny, an emotional ballad that swept the audience off their feet, as both singers' voices united. The feel-good experience of The Coronas gig grew and grew, as every musicians’ energetic performance bounced off 3Olympia’s walls. Róisín Ó walked on stage beside Danny, before breaking into ‘Lost In The Thick Of It’, an lively and dynamic song that had the crowd clapping along. When the song finished, the pair embraced each other, the buoyancy of the night palpable to each audience member.
Overall, The Coronas performance during their first night of five at 3Olympia Theatre was incredible. They brought energy, good-humour, and lots of confetti. The symbiotic relationship between the group and their fans is just one of the things that make The Coronas so special, this homecoming one to remember.
