Tickets for his 3Olympia Theatre show go on sale later this week.
With more than 16 studio albums and hit songs like 'Are You Ready to Be Heartbroken', 'No Blue Skies' or 'Downtown', Lloyd Cole is a renowned singer-songwriter. Now, ahead of of the release of his new album On Pain, he has announced a major UK and Irish Tour – including a gig at the 3Olympia Theatre in Dublin on October 8, 2023.
The new studio album features eight songs – four of which are co-written by Blair Cowan and Neil Clark. Both are former members of The Commotions, which Lloyd was famously the lead singer of.
“I’m excited to still be finding new methods, new perspectives, new sounds," says Lloyd. "The album may be nearing commercial death, but my career has been in that state for almost 30 years and here we are, still, and I still want to make albums. I still want to be heard. I’m very much looking forward to being on stage with Neil, and Blair in October. We have no intention of producing a retro show.”
Lloyd Cole has released 16 studio albums, including three with The Commotions: Rattlesnakes (84), Easy Pieces (85) and Mainstream (87). As a solo artist he released: Lloyd Cole (’90), Don’t Get Weird On Me Babe (’91), Bad Vibes (’93), Love Story (95), Plastic Wood (’01), Music In A Foreign Language (’03), Anti Depressant (’06), Broken Record (’10), Standards (’13), 1D (’15), Guesswork (’19). Also releasing one with The Negatives: The Negatives (2000) and one with "Hans Joachim Roedelius": Selected Studies Vol. 1 (2013).
Lloyds twelfth album, On Pain, is out on June 23, almost four years after his last album Guesswork, on the earMusic label.
