Iconic Dublin-based indie/alternative outfit, Loko Parentis, have dropped their latest album, Dream Longer Than You Sleep, as well as a new music video for their track ‘How Are You, Human?’
Described as an LP with a “scintillating blast of guitars-with-attitude, and laden with hooks and choruses”, the various band members cite influences like Television, Magazine, Sonic Youth, Mott The Hoople, Sex Pistols, and The Clash.
Loko Parentis began as a studio project in Cork in 1981 and featured members of Nun Attax and Cork’s first punk band, Berserk. Loko Parentis was founded by Paul O’Mahony, (ex-Berserk), who has remained its driving force ever since their original ‘80s demo, which garnered considerable national and local airplay at the time.
An amended line-up played the Oxygen Festival in 2007 (Pet Sounds stage, opening for acts like Sinead O’Connor and Brian Wilson). The most recent line-up on the new compilation album and videos also features ex-members of The Gurriers, Las Vegas Basement, The Cherries, Estel and The Evil Kneivals.

After a 13-year hiatus since their last release, the band announced that they will be dropping six new videos (three of which are now up) - completed during the Covid-19 lockdown period - to accompany their latest project.
Dream Longer Than You Sleep is available now on CD in Dublin's Tower Records, Freebird Records and Spindizzy Records. A streaming version of the record is up now via Bandcamp.
