The band has shared their latest video release of the track 'Dream Revolution' from their album Dream Longer Than You Sleep
Dublin-based indie/alternative band Loko Parentis released their latest video, ‘Dream Revolution’, earlier this month, along with a compilation album titled Dream Longer Than You Sleep. The album features tracks from their first two albums released in 2009 and 2010. The 'Dream Revolution' track is the fourth of six videos released to accompany the album.
The ‘Dream Revolution’ video has a special focus on Cork and features one of the last images of the Leeside venue, Sir Henry’s, before its demolition. The exterior shot, taken by Loko’s Paul O’Mahony, was used in a recent David Gray documentary. The video also features Jimmy O’Hara, the original manager of the venue, and several Cork bands in which O’Mahony played, including Berserk and Factor Fiction.
Dream Longer Than You Sleep is a guitar-driven album filled with hooks and choruses. The album was influenced by bands like Television, Magazine, Sonic Youth, Mott The Hoople, Sex Pistols, and The Clash.
The album cover of Dream Longer Than You Sleep features professional footballer Emma Starr, believed to be the first album cover featuring a professional female footballer. Starr, from Philadelphia, USA, was a double-winner with Dublin’s Shelbourne FC in 2022. She now plays in Australia and scored the winning goal in the Grand Final there in October 2023. She was also selected in the Team of the Year in November 2023, and the 2024 season recently started in Australia.
Loko Parentis originated as a studio project in Cork in 1981 and featured members of Nun Attax and Cork’s first punk band, Berserk. Founded by Paul O’Mahony, ex-Berserk, the band has continued with O’Mahony as its driving force since the 1980s. An amended line-up was performed at the Oxegen Festival in 2007. The current line-up features Paul O’Mahony with ex-members of The Gurriers, Las Vegas Basement, The Cherries, Estel, and The Evil Kneivals.
