The London African Gospel Choir have announced an Irish tour for the summer of 2019.
The London African gospel choir have just announced their debut Dublin performance of Paul Simon's album, Graceland on August 27 at Dublin’s National Concert Hall. With Simon’s original album having included traditional South African beats and melodies, the 16-piece choir will be recreating the iconic album by incorporating the style of traditional gospel music to create unforgettable arrangements of songs such as 'The Boy In The Bubble', 'Diamonds On The Soles Of Her Shoes' and 'You Can Call Me Al'.
This won’t be the choir's first time performing their upbeat rendition of Graceland. The London African Gospel Choir performed the entirety of the album recreation at Camden’s Jazz Café in London in December of 2018, the tickets for which sold out within hours of going on sale.
The LAGC has also performed with other artists such as Emile Sande, Tom Jones, and Mumford and Sons, and have been invited to perform at a number of prestigious events such as the MIT Awards.
Dublin will be the choir's second stop during their Irish tour, with other stops including Belfast, Galway, Limerick and Cork (see full tour dates below). Tickets for their Dublin show at the National Concert Hall are priced at €32.50 plus tax and go on sale this Friday, June 9.
