The American singer-songwriter has had a career spanning over 50 years, with more than 20 albums and a huge international fan base, as evident by the excitement around his Liberty Hall show. Tickets on sale now!
Loudon Wainwright III will bring his signature brand of witty and honest songwriting to Irish shores with a headline show at The Liberty Hall Theatre, Dublin, this September 11.
Wainwright graces the Irish stage just after the release of his latest album Lifetime Achievement, his first album of new original songs since 2014’s Haven’t Got The Blues Yet.
Lifetime Achievement is a deeply reflective collection of fifteen recently written, insightful and incisive gems that the musician wasn’t even planning to pen.
Speaking about the album, Wainwright said: "I remember when I made my first record for Atlantic in 1969. I was always saying, ‘I want it to be a record – not only a recording, but a document that captures a moment.’ I was 21 and very serious, and I thought I’d be dead in four years (laughs). So I wanted to make something that would last. A testament. Now, fifty years later, I guess I still want to make a testament. I want to write a group of songs and get them down in the best possible way. And I like to think they might last a while."
For over fifty years, the American singer-songwriter has carved out a distinguished career as one of the most original singer-songwriters out there. With tongue-in-cheek, tender, sarcastic, heart-wrenching material, Wainwright always gives fans a glimpse into deeply personal elements of his life.
Wainwright has released over 20 studio albums, won a Grammy, acted in film and TV, and had his songs recorded by artists including Johnny Cash, Mose Allison, Bonnie Raitt, and his own son, Rufus Wainwright.

Throughout the pandemic the musician continued his work, producing a number of virtual shows, including The Special Relationship (presented by the Royal Albert Hall) and The Great Unknown, a musical tribute to his friend the late George Gerdes.
Loudon released I’d Rather Lead A Band, in the height of Covid, October 2020. An album which he features as a vocalist alongside Vince Giordano and The Nighthawks. The 14-track collection of classic songs from the '20s and ‘30s was met with wide critical acclaim.
