Westlife and Jedward manager and X-Factor judge Louis Walsh is the latest big name to join the line-up of participants in this year's Music Show.
Walsh is one of the most successful music entrepreneurs ever to emerge from Ireland, with a string of successes to his name with Boyzone, Samantha Mumba and Westlife all achieving huge international success under his tutelage. "His knowledge of pop music and the way the industry works is extraordinary," Hot Press editor Niall Stokes commented. "And he's a great speaker, so there will be huge interest in what he has to say about the state of the industry, both in Ireland and elsewhere."
A veritable who's who of international names has been lined up for the show including producers Steve Lillywhite, Mick Glossop and Andy Gill (Gang of Four); leading industry figures John Reid (Warner Music), Marc Marot (SEG International), Kim Frankiewiez (Universal Music Publishing), Ollie Jennings (The Sawdoctors) and Richard O'Donovan; artists Brian Kennedy, Andy Cairns, (Therapy?), Joe Echo, Jerry Fish, Ashleigh Flynn and John Spillane; film directors Maurice Linnane and Nick Hamm (Killing Bono); writers and broadcasters John Kelly, John Robb and Neil McCormick; and Minister for Communications, Eamon Ryan – with more names being added daily. There will also be a unique public interview with musician, songwriter and humanitarian Bob Geldof.
The Music Show, presented by Hot Press in association with RTÉ 2FM, runs from October 2-3 in The RDS, Dublin. Saturday 2 October 10am - 6.30pm, Sunday 3 October 11am - 6pm.
