After an impressive first year of raising awareness, the LMHR team is putting on a one year anniversary bash at their new Dublin home, The Sweeney Mongrel, Dame Street this Friday, July 16.
The night will celebrate the anniversary in style with three floors of music. North Strand Kontra Band headline the night with support from Yves Solo, KaTet and Lights Over Phoenix on the first floor, while on the ground floor Honest To Goodness front man Martin Ansbro and Anseo's Carolyn Murphy will be spinning everything from Reggae and Motown, to 70s funk, old soul classics, hip-hop and nu-disco. Finally, in the basement, Groovalizacion are set to bring things to a truly transnational level on a wonderful tour of world music encompassing everything from AfroBeat to Zouk.
The organization has reflected on the success of its many music and arts events across the country in its short life in Ireland, however they have insisted that music events alone are not enough. They emphasize the continuing need for and importance of a grass roots network of passionate individuals in communities who work to stamp out racism's many forms.
The LMHR team are suggesting a €3-5 donation from attendees who can afford the money to support this great cause, and as always are looking to raise awareness and get people involved in the ever present fight against racism.
