The second album by German duo The Martini Bros shows the way for any producer trying to escape the genre confines electronic music is trapped in. They might still love their machines, but there’s much more to this album than its title suggests.
The second album by German duo The Martini Bros shows the way for any producer trying to escape the genre confines electronic music is trapped in. For starters, there’s the duo’s unusual, vocal led electro-house minimal fusion on throbbing dance floor tracks like Dataman’, ‘Psychic Weaklings’ and ‘The Girl That Pulled The Plug’, while the sound of Chicago house is resurrected, albeit in their inimitable way on ‘She’s Heavy Metal’ and ‘High Risin’. However, the duo really test the limits as the LP progresses, and the melancholic indie rock of ‘Eight Bars Of Fame’ paves the way for ‘House In Malabar’ a hypnotic guitar piece with orchestral stabs. They might still love their machines, but there’s much more to this album than its title suggests.
