It’s shaping up to be a cracking year in clubbing, with lashings of top notch releases and gigs.
For clubbers, there’s lots to look forward to in 2013. We’ve got new releases from Luuk Cox, Andrew Meecham, Jaymo & Andy George, Afrojack, Blende, Groove Armada, SymbolOne, Sharam Jey, Little Boots, Mano Le Tough, SymbolOne, Hystereo, us Deadbots – and a heap of others.
Plus, there are all your favourite festivals: Electric Picnic, Body & Soul, Castlepalooza, Airbound and Exit.
Belfast’s Champion Sound Records is doing it right for ‘13. They have put out records from Ryan Vail, Katie Cosgrove and Unknown. Speaking of Unknown, he’s just remixed Newbridge chillwave prodigy MMOTHS. Both he and Ryan Vail are working on albums for later this year. Catch Vail supporting MMOTHS at Belfast’s Out To Lunch festival, January 18 at the Black Box. After that Vail’s over to Cult in Galway on January 19.
It’s a busy time, too, for Dublin production duo White Collar Boy. Check out the video to ‘Another Way’, directed by Evan Buggle. And if you happen to be in Berlin January 24, go and support the lads at Factory, where they’ll be playing alongside Spleen United, Beta, We Love Machines, Local Suicide DJ Team, Wasted Ruffians and Leisure System DJs. Check video at vimeo.com/55244380.
In Dublin, producer and DJ Jay Riordan, aka Harem Tone, has his inaugural release lined up on his newly launched label, ToneKontrol! The First Step EP features three diverse tracks and drops January 17. The sound policy is quality house and techno, while also exploring the darker side of electronic music. See facebook.com/TonekontrolRecordings.
Another Dublin label making waves, in India no less, is Desy Balmer’s Nice & Nasty Records. They’ve just released an EP by Delhi-born techno and minimal loving Hashback Hashish, aka Ashish Sachan. The Bruce Banner EP comes with remixes from the UK’s Clatterbox and India’s Audio Pervert, and takes inspiration from everyone’s green machine, The Incredible Hulk. Check the release here beatport.com/label/nice-and-nasty and the promo video here: youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=PUstNI_GLJ0.
In Derry, Sirkus Sirkuz is starting the year off right with two fresh remixes and a free track. Look for his mix of Four Quarters Boyz’s ‘Future’, landing on Crux Records January 14, along with a second mix for A Plastic Rose, titled ‘Kids Don’t Behave’, dropping on Di Di Mau Records on January 21. Plus, to start the year off right, Sirkus Sirkuz is giving away his new track, ‘Forgiveness’, for free! Get it here: soundcloud.com/sirkus-sirkuz/forgiveness.
Another freebie coming your way is this label sampler from Dublin’s Psychonavigation Records. They’ve big plans for the New Year. Listen here:
