Cork singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist LYRA has announced a Dublin show at the Grand Social on 29th May.
A gorgeous blend of dark and ethereal, Lyra’s creativity manifests itself in her fresh style of electronic pop. Her admiration for artists such as Kate Bush, Lykke Li and Bat for Lashes is clear in her music: part vintage, part contemporary, she exudes a sense of being free from the constraints of time and era. With production from Rupert Christie (Kate Bush, Coldplay, Aurora), Lyra’s 2016 debut EP ‘W.I.L.D’ was self-released to critical acclaim and has earned more than a million streams on Spotify.
That EP led to sold out shows in Ireland and London, festival dates at The Great Escape, Music Cork, Latitude and Electric Picnic, as well as a feature on the 30th anniversary rework of U2’s The Joshua Tree -'New Roots' alongside Kodaline, Gavin James, and Imelda May -which went to number 1 in Ireland.
Lyra has spent the past year honing her sound, writing with the likes of Phil Cook (Birdy, Ellie Goulding), Carey Willetts (Dermot Kennedy) and Braque (Rag N Bone Man, Bastille). She recently supported Dermot Kennedy on tour and played with James Bay at the Live At The Marquee in Cork -an event she has always aspired to perform at.
Her music has been featured in a number of TV shows, including Teen Wolf and Made in Chelsea, and recently scored a Guinness commercial. Her newest single 'Falling' was released in March via Polydor Records.
