Watch Lyra's new music video for 'Never Let Go'.
Cork singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Lyra has premiered the new video for her latest single ‘Never Let Go’, released via Polydor. Directed by Iranian female director and photographer Somayeh, the video tells the story of a simple misunderstanding leading to a romance gone wrong.
Speaking about the video, Lyra explains: “Shooting the video for ‘Never Let Go’ was so much fun - although a little bit nerve-wracking! I decided for this video I wanted to tell more of a story, to express how I felt when I wrote this song and what it’s all about. I fecked up with a guy I really liked and I just had to get him back. It was great to do something different from the ‘Falling’ video, which was pure music performance. I love performing, so getting to put this to use in more of an acting role was great craic - I got to roll around with a hunky guy!!! Thankfully we laughed a LOT which made it less mortifying!
A perfect blend of dark electronic pop, Lyra’s creativity manifests itself in songs, stories and art. Her love of vocal talents such as Kate Bush, Lykke Li and Bat for Lashes is obvious: part vintage, part contemporary, she exudes a sense of being free from the constraints of time and era.

The recent release of Lyra’s single ‘Falling’ has caused a real stir, having performed ‘Falling’ live on Ireland’s Got Talent Final.
Lyra has spent the past year honing her sound, writing with the likes of Phil Cook (Birdy, Ellie Goulding), Carey Willetts (Dermot Kennedy) and Braque (Rag N Bone Man, Bastille) She recently supported Dermot Kennedy on tour and played with James Bay at the Live At The Marquee in Cork - an event she has always aspired to perform at and to call for a toast, her song ‘Emerald’ was synced in the latest Guinness advert - her favourite homeland drink!
Lyra will be performing today, May 28, at Cyprus Avenue in Cork and tomorrow, May 29, at the Grand Social in Dublin.
