"Calling it LYRA just seemed like the right thing – because there are 13 different LYRAs there, that people are going find out about," says the Cork star, ahead of the release of her long-awaited debut album.
There's just a few weeks to go until LYRA unleashes her debut album – which, featuring singles like 'Drink Me Up', 'Chess' and 'Falling', is already shaping up to be one of the most eagerly anticipated releases of the year.
On the eve of the release, fans will get a chance to celebrate alongside the Cork star at her special Windmill Live show on April 11, by applying for complimentary tickets below.
Speaking to Hot Press as part of an extensive upcoming interview, LYRA revealed that the self-titled album is a deeply emotional and autobiographical project.
"All these songs, bar one, are about me," she said. "It’s a very personal journey. I write about everything that happens in my life. Calling it LYRA just seemed like the right thing – because there are 13 different LYRAs there, that people are going find out about...
"The heartbroken one, the depressed one, the dirty one in LA..." she laughed. "The one who had her first one night stand, the one who got invited to a David Guetta writing camp that was totally out of my comfort zone… They’re all in there, so it felt right."

She also spoke about her feelings in the run-up to the release.
"I’ve been waiting for this for so long,"she reflected. "So many people are like, ‘I can’t believe this is your debut album!’ And I'm like, 'I know, I can’t either!' I’m so happy she’s coming, but I don't know when the penny will drop with me that this is actually happening. It still seems very surreal.
"Last week I saw the sleeve of the vinyl for the first time, and I cried and cried and cried," she added. "I wanted to do a post about it – and four times I tried do it, and every time I cried. I was like, 'What's wrong with you, girl? Stop!' But I couldn't, for two days!"
Ahead of the release of LYRA on April 12, you can pre-save the album – or pre-order the gold vinyl and CD editions – here.
