The singer-songwriter shares the elated track with the world just in time for summer along with a brand new music video.
In the lead-up to her forthcoming album Surrender, set for release in late July, Alt-pop artist Maggie Rogers gifted the world with the second single from the record, ‘Want Want.’ The single is accompanied by a music video, premiering tonight at 7 and directed by Warren Fu.
With a driving, fuzzy bassline complimenting the singer’s bittersweet vocals, the artist shares the confusions of a fluctuating relationship. The chorus kicks in double-time, accelerating the coming-of-age track toward its potential to be the soundtrack of the summer.
‘Want Want’ was produced by the multi-talented artist herself alongside Kid Harpoon and Del Water Gap, who featured on ‘New Song’ with Rogers as part of her Notes from the Archive release in 2020. Mixing took place across the map: in Jimi Hendrix’s Electric Lady Studios in NYC, Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios in the UK, and Sid’s Place located in Scarborough, ME.
This is the second song off of the unreleased Surrender to hit fans this year, as Rogers debuted ‘That’s Where I Am’ in April at Indio’s Coachella, upon its release on streaming platforms. Her imminent record will be the artist’s follow-up to the chart-topping Heard It In A Past Life, which scored Rogers a Grammy nomination in 2020.
The artist also recently announced an EU/UK Feral Joy tour later this year, which includes a stop at Dublin’s 3Olympia theatre on November 2 with support from fellow NYU musician, Samia. Tickets for the tour go on sale Friday, June 10 from €29.50.
