Along with the release of the new single, Malaki has released the music video for the single.
Irish artist, Malaki, has put out his new track ‘Long Face’ as well as its accompanying music video.
Malaki has not released music since his single ‘Most Days’ in October of 2023. Since then he has seen support from BBC Radio One’s Jack Saunders, BBC ALT Introducing, BBC 5 Live, RTE 2FM, The Independent, The Line Of Best Fit, Clash Magazine, Notion and Earmilk.
The artist has also appeared on Ireland’s The Late Late show as well as played his first sold-out headline show in London. Malaki’s music is raw and focuses on combining personal expression with social and political commentary.
At 22, Malaki released his debut EP Butterfly Boy. This was followed by the EP Don’t Forget To Take Your Medicine (DFTTYM). In this EP Malaki’s alter ego, Calvero, took over. This EP told the story of Malaki’s struggle with depression, anxiety and self-medication.
Soon after, he released the singles ‘Never Mind’ and most recently, ‘Most Days’.
When speaking about ‘Long Face’ Malaki said, “ [the track] is an introspective dive into the mind of the character. For me it outlines reasons for the way I am and how I cope. The use of writing and music to speak about things I have locked away. It’s clarity from the fog. When we are in depressive states we become blinded by our pessimism and negativity. This is me stepping away from a foggy depression detailing the experience and how I can be better.”

Malaki started his music career in 2019 when he was only 19 years old and out of a dark depression. “ I was a shell of a human clinging to any joy I could find,” he said. “Fortunately, I had music and writing.”
Music is a form of expression and therapy for Malaki. Music “gave me a reason to keep going,” Malaki puts it.
